Overview
PAVER investigates high-power laser sintering of lunar regolith to produce paving elements, launch pads, and surface infrastructure directly on the Moon. Using a 12 kW CO₂ laser, the study explores automated layer-based manufacturing of large-scale elements to mitigate lunar dust and enable stable surface operations. Embedded within a broader mission roadmap—from robotic exploration to sustained habitation—the project evaluates how laser melting technologies can support different phases of lunar development. PAVER defines TRL steps and infrastructure scenarios, contributing to the foundation of autonomous lunar base construction.
